An Integrated System to Perform Calculations of BreastMilk Production from Test-Weigh Data
The Human Lactation Research Group aims to gain a greater understanding of removal of milk from the breast by the suckling infant. Mothers weigh their babies before and after each breast feed and collect milk samples that are analysed in the laboratory. The project is to create a web-based tool that allows mothers or Human Lactation Research Group staff to enter data about breast-milk feeds. Other data, linked to the data entered by the mothers, is then entered by laboratory staff. The overall aim is to calculate breastmilk production, milk storage capacity of the breasts, degree of fullness of the breasts, and graph the results.
